How Much Do Signia Hearing Aids Cost?

The cost of Signia hearing aids varies depending on where you purchase them and the model you choose. The models we feature in our Signia hearing aid review range in price from around $2,708 per pair to $3,660 per pair. These prices make Signia one of the more expensive hearing aid brands, but this is due in part to the advanced technology features they offer.

While you will need to speak with your audiologist or hearing center directly to discuss pricing and payment options, here is some additional information on different options to explore.

Medicare

Medicare Part A and B doesn’t cover hearing aids but may pay for hearing exams. Medicare Advantage plans (Part C) do cover hearing aids.

Private Insurance

Hearing aids are generally not covered by private medical insurance, although some states have state insurance mandates for hearing aids. Other insurers cover hearing aids as an add-on benefit for an extra fee. Check with your insurance company to determine whether hearing exams and hearing aids are covered.

If you have a Flexible Spending Account (FSA), Health Savings Account (HSA), or Health Reimbursement Account (HRA), as part of your insurance, you can use these funds to purchase a hearing aid and batteries.

Financing

Third party companies like CareCredit work with more than 250,000 healthcare providers across the country. A CareCredit credit card allows consumers to pay for hearing exams and hearing aids.

Veterans Affairs

If you’re a veteran or have a family member in the military, check with your local department of Veterans Affairs to see if you qualify for benefits and hearing-related services.

Non-Profits

Certain non-profit organizations provide financial assistance for hearing aids. Contact the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders for help identifying non-profits that could work with you.

Signia App and Accessories

With the Signia app, you can use your smartphone to control the settings on Bluetooth enabled hearing aids. You can also use the AI-powered Signia Assistant for instant support 24/7 or to communicate virtually with your audiologist or hearing care professional when you have questions. We like that the Signia mobile app allows you to adjust settings like the volume, program setting, sound balance, and directional hearing.

Signia hearing aid app on Android with Signia Active case next to the phone

One of the most innovative features is Signia Face Mask Mode, designed to help you hear and understand the speech of anyone wearing a face mask. Simply press a button in the app to have your hearing aids amplify detected speech patterns and all background noise.

Signia apps are compatible with both Android and iOS devices.

Some of the available Signia accessories include:

  • miniPocket – A small remote control that allows you to control your hearing aids without the Signia app
  • StreamLine TV – A device that allows you to stream your TV’s audio directly to your hearing aid with Dolby Digital quality
  • StreamLine Mic – A remote microphone that you can also use to take phone calls, stream music, and give voice commands
  • Chargers – Each model of rechargeable Signia hearing aids comes with its own own-the-go charger. Signia also offers stationary chargers, basic chargers, and two Dry&Clean chargers
  • Ear Domes – Signa sells ear domes in packages of six that protect the ear canal from infection and provide a comfortable feel; they come in three different sizes: small, medium, and large.

Signia Hearing Aids Customization

For most models, you can choose your Signia hearing aid color from a number of options. This lets you customize your device to better match your skin tone or style. The Signia app is free in the Apple App and Google Play stores and allows Signia hearing aid users to adjust the hearing volume and microphone volume as well as adjusting the sound balance. You can also purchase additional accessories that can provide even more functionality and customization options.

Signia Customer Service and Satisfaction

Signia hearing aids can be purchased through an audiologist or at hearing centers across the country. Most audiologists offer a 30-day trial period to ensure the device fits your individual needs. Unfortunately, Signia does not provide a robust customer support service on its own, so you will need to work directly with your audiologist or hearing aid provider most of the time.

With the Signia app, you can reach out to your audiologist using TeleCare for virtual support. To use this function, however, a separate activation is required. The app also features an AI-powered Signia Assistant that can provide real-time support and feedback. Additionally, Signia has an international repair service located in 26 countries for non-custom Signia hearing aids. If your hearing aids are still under warranty, you can get them repaired for free in some cases.

Consumer Reports rates Signia second in overall satisfaction for hearing aids, behind Costco/Kirkland and ahead of Oticon, Phonak, Widex, and Resound, all tied for third place.

What to Consider Before Buying Hearing Aids

Before you purchase a hearing aid, it’s important to be evaluated by an audiologist. Dr. Ginette Lezotte, Au.D, owner of Grosse Pointe Audiology in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan, says audiologists use Real Ear Verification, a test that provides a true measurement of the hearing aid’s effectiveness in relation to an individual’s hearing loss.

“Real Ear Verification is the only way to verify that a hearing aid is programmed correctly for a patient’s specific hearing loss and ear anatomy,” says Dr. Lezotte. “Even though it’s deemed the best way to fit hearing aids, it’s only used by 30% of all listening practices nationwide,” she adds.

According to Dr. Laurel Horne, Au.D., an audiologist and clinical instructor at the University of Illinois College of Medicine’s Otolaryngology Department in Chicago, it’s important to take into consideration the level of hearing loss, a person’s lifestyle, and their expectations for a hearing aid.

“Some people really like the Bluetooth capabilities of the newer hearing aids that allow them to wirelessly connect to devices such as smartphones, televisions and computers or tablets,” says Dr. Horne. She notes that “Other customers prefer hearing aids with rechargeable batteries, rather than those that need to be replaced.”

Signia Hearing Aid Reviews and Reputation

Due to Signia being a fairly new brand, it is difficult to determine their reputation. There seems to be mixed reviews on Signia’s customer support and app quality, but positively known for their sleek design and excellent sound quality.

How We Reviewed Signia Hearing Aids

In our Signia hearing aid review, we examined the brand and its different models based on factors including the cost, the types of hearing loss covered, the hearing aid styles offered, mobile app compatibility, customer reviews, and accessories.

Signia impresses with its hearing aid technology and features. They offer some of the most advanced hearing aids available with features like automatic situation detection and a Face Mask Mode to help you adapt to different sound environments. We also like that there are Signia hearing aids designed to cover almost every level of hearing loss, and that most include built-in functions to help users with tinnitus.

While these are some of the more expensive hearing aid options, it may be worth the investment to find a hearing aid that can improve your hearing and quality of life with unique features and attractive designs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Signia rechargeable hearing aids include lithium-ion batteries that you can recharge for use. The length of the charge varies by model, but typically ranges from 19 hours per charge to 26 hours per charge. The Signia Motion Charge&Go SX can even last up to 61 hours. Note that Bluetooth streaming will drain the battery faster than just listening.
