One of the reasons we were attracted to the Spruce CBD line is the fact that they carry one of the highest-strength CBD oils available from a reputable company. When they were doing their research within the CBD community, Spruce noticed repeated requests for a higher-potency oil among those suffering from chronic conditions. Users could take less oil and still have effective strong results.

Spruce products all contain full-spectrum oil, which means their extraction method ensures the CBD retains all the additional and beneficial cannabinoids found in hemp. Spruce is a small company with a limited line of CBD products, but their hemp is 100% pesticide-free and sustainably farmed.

When we started looking at CBD products to review for Aging in Place, we took into consideration potency and results – specifically when it came to pain relief and anxiety – as well as customer service happiness. From article reviews to customer feedback, we found a consistent amount of high praise for the Spruce CBD products.

Our Verdict

Spruce gets high marks for the maximum strength of their 2,400mg tincture. Pure, full-spectrum CBD is extremely bitter tasting, and as we’ll later go into, you can’t add flavoring to a higher-strength oil without taking away from its potency. So, while the Spruce 2,400mg tincture taste is not pleasant, we can’t take away marks for that. We did, however, deduct marks due to the fact that – at this time – they have such a limited product line.

Mind you, as a newcomer to the CBD industry, Spruce is making a solid name for itself. We can’t wait to see where else they go and hope they extend their line more.

Spruce 750mg and 2,400mg CBD Oil Tincture

$89 for 750mg and $269 for 2,400mg Max Potency

30mL Bottle Size

Strength/Potency:
750mg & 2,400mg

Suggested Dosage:
1 full dropper (1ml)

Features:

  • Vegan & gluten-free with no artificial flavors, sweeteners or preservatives
  • Organic
  • Cap includes a graduated dropper to ensure the accurate serving size
  • Third-party testing
  • Contains less than 0.3% THC and does not cause a ‘high.’

Spruce CBD offers two full-spectrum CBD tinctures for daily use; one a natural peppermint flavored, moderate-strength tincture at 750mg, and the other an unflavored, maximum-strength, 2,400mg option. The tinctures are generally taken orally and are beneficial for conditions such as arthritis, joint pain (hip, knee, shoulder), degenerative disc disease, anxiety and depression, and even insomnia.

The moderate-strength tincture, at 750mg, contains 25mg of full-spectrum CBD per dropper full (1ml) and contains a natural peppermint flavoring to mute the bitter taste of the organic CBD oils. It is mixed with organic hemp seed oil as the carrier base. This option is ideal for users new to the concept of CBD oil.

The 2,400mg option, on the other hand, is for folks who are familiar with the healing properties of CBD and need a stronger potency for dealing with chronic conditions. The 2,400mg bottle offers the option of organic hemp seed oil or organic coconut oil as the carrier base. Each dropper contains 80mg of CBD, and reports testify that it is very, very bitter as there has been no flavoring added. Even the Spruce website states that adding flavor would make it impossible to reach such a level of potency in one bottle. Thankfully, the bitter taste does not linger.

Spruce Topical CBD Cream

Starting at $39

$39 for 750mg

2oz tub

Strength/Potency:
300mg

Suggested Dosage:
A dab applied to the affected area

Features:

  • Uses natural, organic, gluten-free ingredients
  • Contains 300mg of high quality, full-spectrum CBD oil
  • A fingertip dab about the size of a quarter goes a long way
  • Third-party testing
  • Contains less than 0.3% THC and does not cause a ‘high.’

Spruce’s topical CBD cream is excellent for seniors who suffer from bone and joint problems, arthritis, hip and shoulder pain, chronic muscle pain, and more. The CBD’s cannabinoids work with skin absorption to target specific pain sights and provide pain relief.

Each 2oz jar contains 300mg of full-spectrum oil and is naturally scented using plant-derived scents. While 300mg may not be the most substantial potency on the market, users rave about the results the cream had on their arthritis, joint issues, chronic inflamed tissue pain, and even restless leg syndrome.

Please note that CBD topicals do not affect any other part of your body, or your mind, and are strictly for muscle and joint pain and fatigue.

About Spruce

Spruce CBD is a family-run business based in Raleigh, NC, whose oils are sourced from organic hemp grown on two separate family-owned farms, one in Colorado and one in Kentucky. They chose farms, rather than production plants, that are located in states which produce some of the highest quality and potency hemp strains obtainable for CBD use. Their hemp is 100% pesticide-free and sustainably farmed. Spruce CBD only carries three products: two strength tinctures (mid- and high- strengths) for daily use, a topical cream for pain, and a full grade spectrum CBD oil for dogs.

On the Spruce website, customers are eager to send in video testimonials and leave glowing reviews, plus their customer service team is quick to respond to questions, issues, and work to help best determine customer needs.

“I’m a new user to the CBD oil. I’ve been using the cream for about 6 months. I use it on my low back for arthritis and it really helps but not quite taking care of all the pain. I told my sister about your site as she was getting her CBD oil somewhere else and she is pain free in her low back now so I thought I’d give it a try. I’ve only been using [the tincture] for 3 days and started with the lowest dose once a day. Today I decided to try the .75ml dose. I definitely think it’s made my back pain better and I will keep taking this dose to see. Hopefully this works and I can feel pain free just like my sister!!”

– K. Meredith

“I started taking 25mg 2xdaily, looking for possible arthritis relief. After two days, I was astonished to find that my more serious problem – tremor of the right hand – was all but eliminated. This is a life-changing discovery for me.”
– Jay

“I have chronic pancreatitis and am recovering from an invasive surgery. The 2400 mg really helped me at a time when it was difficult to get oxycodone refills. I am in on using this for the long haul instead of opioids. Really made a dent in my nausea, back and hip arthritis joint pain, too!! Best CBD I have tried, and I recommend it to others, including my primary care physician.”

– Veda Williams

Cost

The Spruce line of CBD products averages out to $0.11 to $0.13 per mg, which for a high quality, full-spectrum CBD oil is very reasonably priced and is comparable to similar products in the market. Spruce also offers a subscribe-and-save option, which saves customers 15% on monthly orders as well as free shipping.

Quality

Spruce CBD products are extracted from 100% organic, pesticide-free, and sustainably farmed hemp. The company uses a third party for testing to ensure their products are clean of bacteria, pesticides, and other harmful contaminants, and these independent third-party lab results are available to consumers upon request.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, if you subscribe with Spruce, they will give you a 15% discount on your monthly order, and shipping is free. Signing up is easy, as is changing your order or canceling it.

Using CBD Oil

Spruce’s tincture is full spectrum, which means the way the CBD oil has been extracted ensures it maintains all the additional and beneficial cannabinoids found in hemp.

When using the tincture, Spruce CBD recommends a twice-daily dose of 1 full dropper, although newcomers can start with half a dose and work their way up. Each dose should be applied under the tongue and held there for at least 60 seconds. The cream can be applied, using just a dab to start, on the affected area, and can be reapplied a couple of times of day depending on your level of pain.

Conclusion

We recommend Spruce CBD products to those who are newcomers to the use of CBD for pain relief and management. Their limited line of products means you won’t get bogged down in decisions with “what does what” and which product is best for you. If you have a chronic condition go with the 2,400mg tincture, or if you’re not sure, choose the 750mg oil. And if you have pain in specific spots such as your hands, knees, hips, or shoulder, the topical cream is an excellent place to start.

As always, consult with your doctor. Taking CBD oils should not react with any medications you may be taking, but it’s always good to check with them.
